Goge Africa, a tourism and cultural media brand, says it is exploring African countries with the aim of offering solutions to the problems of travel, trade and investment within Africa.

Its managing director, Nneka Isaac-Moses, in a statement on Friday in Lagos, said the organization’s senior management team recently visited Tanzania and Burundi in East Africa.

She said that this was a work visit occasioned by her search for travel, investment and tourism promotion within Africa. According to her, the barriers that impede interconnectivity and the lack of intracontinental trade and investment must be eliminated for Africa to progress. She said it was noted that African countries had refused to trade directly with each other, instead buying from far away places like Asia, Europe, America and all.

She did, however, advise that Africans must take deliberate steps to invest in Africa. “Our political and economic leaders must stop moving Africa’s wealth out of the continent if they want Africa to progress,” she said. According to her, Dr. Alfred Bana, the Tanzanian Ambassador to Nigeria, facilitated a meeting between Goge Africa, the Tanzania Tourism Board and the Zanzibar Tourism Commission.

“Dr Mohamed Masoko had to sail from Zanzibar to Tanzania to meet the team in the Kigamboni area, Gezaulole at Bamba Beach, a private resort on the peninsula. “At the end of the meeting, we took a guided tour of the facilities. “Bamba Beach is a very beautiful ecological complex with enormous potential for investors in the tourism sector. “It has a nice curvy lake in the middle of the green vegetation that runs slowly into the ocean,” he said.

Isaac-Moses said that Dr. Gladstone Mlay, director of marketing for the Tanzania Tourism Board in Dar Es Salam, shared the country’s willingness to work with the team to promote Tanzania as a must-see destination in Africa for the tourism and investment.

She said that the team also visited Burundi at the invitation of the Nigerian Ambassador to Burundi, Amb. Elijah Onyeagba. “Upon arrival, the team was taken to the office of the Mayor of Bujumbura, Jimmy Hatungimana, for a warm reception and a meeting with the Mayor and the Ambassador, among others.

Later, the team held a meeting with the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage. They attended, the assistant of the Minister, Mr. Jean Claude Kanene; General Director of Sports and Culture, Mr. Samuel Niyubahwe and Director of Sports, Mr. Laurent Nzeyimana. “We also did a guided tour with Her Excellency Mrs. Udo Onyeagba to the border of Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, then to De La Rusizi National Park.

“It was a magical journey of discovery from the calm brown Rusizi waters, we watched a herd of hippos, different species of birds fluttering away as we clapped our hands from our boat. “Within minutes we were at the magical yet natural divide where Rusizi brown meets Lake Tanganyika blue. What an amazing wonder.

“At the end of the boat ride, we had a cultural encounter with Burundi’s amazing drummers and dancers,” she said. Goge Africa Executive Director Isaac Moses noted that the experiences and information collected were such that they were not accessible on the internet.

“Burundi is not a poor country, they have enough food with the most fertile land in all of Africa, Lake Tanganyika is a freshwater lake and home to more than 200 species of fish. “I recommend the Mukeke and Sangala fish prepared Burundi style to anyone visiting Burundi. “Their avocados are very meaty.

“Burundi is not only enough food, but Rwanda, Congo and other neighboring countries depend on them for food. Investing in agriculture will generate a quick return on investment.

“Burundi is a virgin land, full of untapped resources, the government has opened up and is ready for investors in various aspects of its economy,”

Moses said. According to him, Amb. Onyeagba, has engaged Nigerians and the diaspora community in the opportunities available in Burundi. “The team was also hosted by the Kiriri Garden Hotel, the Hotel Club Du Lac Tanganyika and the Olivia Hotel, which is owned by a Nigerian,” he said.
