Football broadcaster Piers Morgan thinks France will beat Argentina in the World Cup final to ‘break Lionel Messi’s heart’.

Argentina beat Croatia 3-0 to book their place in the final at the Lusail Stadium on December 18, where they will contend for their third title against either France or Morocco.

The South American side claimed their spot with yet another sumptuous display from Barcelona legend Messi.

He scored a penalty in the triumph and assisted another in a virtuoso performance, that made talkSPORT pundit Stuart Pearce drop his mic and applaud.

The 35-year-old seems to have timed what may be the last peak of his career perfectly.

His performances in the tournament are getting better and better as his side approaches the final.

And he even made a fool of Josko Gvardiol – one of the breakout stars in Qatar, before assisting Julian Alvarez’s second strike.

For many, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is already the greatest footballer of all time, and for many more, winning the World Cup would end the debate.

Not for Morgan, though, who continues to stick up for friend and interview subject Cristiano Ronaldo through thick and thin.

And when it comes to his call on the final, Morgan is pinning his hopes on France.

“Final prediction, France are going to win and break Messi’s heart, take that to the bank,” he told talkSPORT.
