Keane Wants Rashford To Maintain Good Form

Roy Keane has called on Marcus Rashford to maintain his goalscoring form after notching a late penalty in Man United’s FA Cup win over Everton.

Erik ten Hag’s side booked their place in the next round of the competition thanks to goals from Antony, Rashford and a Conor Coady own-goal. The Everton defender also scored his side’s equaliser in the first-half.

Rashford was instrumental in the victory and received plaudits from ITV’s pundits after the game, including United legend Keane who said he ‘expects’ top level performances from the England forward.

Speaking after the game, Keane said: ‘This is what I expect from him now. I’m not surprised by what I’ve seen from him tonight. I think he’s now becoming one of the main players for United.

‘Can he get them back competing for trophies? He’s taking responsibility. I kind of expect this from Marcus every week. When he gets full-backs in 1v1s, he’s going to go by you. We can’t even be that too critical of their [Everton] defending tonight.

Rashford helped reinstate Man United’s lead in the game during the second-half, after breezing by Seamus Coleman and drilling a cross into the box that Coady turned into his own net.

‘Even a 24-year-old Seamus Coleman can’t defend that. He’s just too quick. He’s going to decide what he’s going to do – that’s what the good players do,’ Keane continued.
