Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, is a Nigerian singer who won her first Grammy on Sunday night.
Tems won for “Best Rap Melodic Performance” since she appeared on Future’s “Wait for You” with Drake. The song was also a finalist for the title of “Best Rap Song.”
The only other female artists of Nigerian descent who have won a Grammy are Tems and Sade Adu, a British-Nigerian singer.
In 1986, Sade won the Grammy Award for “Best New Artist” and took it home with her.
