On this edition of his podcast show “Tea With Tay,” Taymesan is joined by Genoveva Umeh, a Nollywood actress and “Blood Sisters” star.

Genoveva discusses a variety of topics, including her upbringing in Enugu, relocation to the UK, acting classes, missed opportunities, applying for “Blood Sisters,” and much more.

I was born in the state of Enugu. I was born and reared there till I migrated to the UK at the age of 12. I moved my family and Myself to London. My mother first of all relocated since she is a nurse. She, therefore, had the chance to practice in the UK, and my father and I joined two years later.

“It was freeing. When someone recently asked me that, I said that it felt like I was on vacation in Enugu. I may have been protected by my parents from the terrible realities of life in Nigeria, but I’ve always been content and deeply immersed in the arts. In the church, I participated in both the singing and dancing communities. We would do “Now, see the lamb,” complete with gloves. Everything was modern dance. We were simply doing it, and it was a lot of fun. I also experienced affection and protection. They were our next-door neighbours, and they always watched out for me.

“I hadn’t worked in a while.

I had been in very bad shape. I was the biggest I had ever been. I developed the worst acne overnight. I also moved in on my own that year. I was definitely struggling with worry about the next rent. Prior to “Blood Sisters,” there was a chance that I could have taken, but I didn’t. After that, it appeared as though most of my pals had the chance. I say, “Wow!” What brings me to Nigeria? What purpose does being here serve? I was thinking about returning to the UK.

In addition, even though my parents are very encouraging, they also said, “If this thing isn’t working out for you, you need to leave.” As 2020/2021 approaches, I notice Ebony Life Creative Academy and think, “I need to get back to training even though I’m not working.” I need to think about why I enjoy doing what I do again.
