Famous indigenous rapper Olamide Baddo has provided an explanation for his decision to sign artists to his record company, including Fireboy DML, Asake, and others.

The YBNL boss revealed that when he realised he had accumulated so much riches that he was unsure of what to do with it, he eventually made the decision to sign fresh artists.

He claimed that by deciding to assist budding artists in realising their ambitions of becoming household names, he was choosing to give back to society.

Speaking to UK music journalist Ebro during a podcast interview, Baddo said:

“I just started stacking up money and the money was becoming too much for me.

“I was like, ‘Yo, I don’t have anything to do with this money. I need to sign new guys. Let me spend money on people’.

“You know it is just like my own way of giving back to society”.

Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Fireboy DML Asake, and many more successful musicians have had their musical careers shaped by Olamide, who founded the YBNL record label in 2012.
