Jim Ratcliffe Arrives for Talks Over Acquisition of Manchester United

OGC Nice and INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has arrived in Manchester as talks over the purchase of Manchester United intensify.

Ratcliffe, INEOS Sport CEO Jean Claude Blanc and INEOS Sport Head of Performance Sir Dave Brailsford have all been videoed outside Old Trafford on Friday morning, as talks over the potential acquisition of the club continue. Ratcliffe’s arrival follows Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani’s visit yesterday. Sheikh Jassim, the chairman of the Qatar Islamic Bank, is leading a debt-free bid to purchase Manchester United through his private Nine Two foundation.

According to The Athletic, that visit lasted 10 hours yesterday, and has been described as “productive.” The INEOS delegation have now arrived in Manchester to discuss their bid with chief executive Richard Arnold. As shown in a video posted online by the BBC’s Dan Roan, Ratcliffe and the rest of the INEOS delegation were given a tour of Old Trafford, which included a visit to the club’s megastore.

They will now head to the club’s Carrington training ground for a continuation of the tour as well as talks over the potential takeover of the club.

RMC Sport reported that the Qatari bid to buy Manchester United was “in pole position,” although INEOS were still very much in contention to buy the Premier League club.
