The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) on Friday Matriculates its first set of students in Kano state.

While speaking, the pioneer rector of the academy, Mallam Haruna Adamu Hadeja expressed expressed satisfaction in the rigorous process the academy went through before accreditation.

He remained buoyed that the academy has focus despite the challenges involved.

Hadeja reiterated that the academy is independent of government’s intervention, but however remain competitive in terms of rendering skills to the successful students that would endear them to be creators of jobs in the nearest future and not job seekers.

The CITAD Academy rector confirmed that several candidates applied for the first set of the academy’s admission, but that twenty one of them were shortlisted purely based on merit.

“Those who we picked are students from purely science background, despite several applications”, he confirmed.

On the number of courses the academy will be offering, Hadeja disclosed that being the pioneer set, the academy will be offering only one course, which is Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the duration is eight weeks,equivalent of two months.

He however assured that other courses will be subsequently introduced, adding that the program is strictly professional even though the academy was accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

He then remain upbeat that the academy will be awarding National Diploma (ND) in the nearest future.

Also speaking at the matriculation was the Head of Department of software Engineering of the academy, Mallam Sanni Ahmad Muhammad.

He said that the school fees of the successfully admitted students are free of charge.

On his expectations after the expiration of the program, Muhammad said that his desire is to have youth who would rely mostly on technical skills which they can use to make living rather than wholly relying on certificate.

He corroboratedthat Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be the major area of concentration for the first entrants, adding that the area remains one of the very few areas that endear youth to be self-employed without bothering themselves about government employment.

He enjoined the new intakes to behave well in order to achieve their goals.
