Super Falcons forward, Desire Oparanozie, has apologised for not converting her penalty which contributed to the 4-2 loss by Nigerians against England in the ongoing Women World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Following the team’s defeat in the Round of 16 on Monday morning, Oparanozie shared a picture of herself in tears on her Instagram account and apologised to Nigerians.

“Sad day! Very disappointing to have lost through penalties, and even more disappointing not to have converted mine. And for this I deeply apologise.”

The two teams cancelled each other out in over two hours of football before settling for the lottery of penalties.
