Rumours had previously spread on social media that Ayinla was battling an unidentified disease and was in critical health.

Some also reported that he died at a Lagos hospital.

However, in a now-viral video, the 75-year-old artist addressed the situation, indicating that he is still alive.

Kollington thanked the medical staff at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja for their “excellent” care, as well as Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his support.

Speaking from his hospital bed in the video, the ace singer stated that he would most likely be dead by now if not for the physicians at LASUTH.

“I’d want to thank Lagosians. “I’d like to thank the Lagos State Government, the management of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, and the team led by Adetokunbo O. Fabanwo,” he stated.

“It is only God that can save life but I want to appreciate him and the team because I would have gone to the great beyond.

“I give it to the LASUTH. They are king for taking care of me. They deserve my salutations. LASUTH LASUTH LASUTH, you are king. They said I was dead, but I am here speaking alive from the LASUTH now.”
