Osariemen Patience, an Edo State native, is going to attempt the Guinness World Record by going on a 200-hour “longest read-aloud marathon by an individual.”

Guinness World Records is an annual reference book published in the United Kingdom. It was formerly called as The Guinness Book of Records and The Guinness Book of World Records in early US editions.

The book contains global records for both natural disasters and human achievements. Sir Hugh Beaver, the twin brothers Norris and Ross McWhirter, and others worked together to begin the book in August 1955 on Fleet Street in London.

In 1955, the first edition of the book debuted at the top of the UK bestseller list. The next year, it was published in 100 countries and 23 languages. As of the 2022 edition, the book has been in print for 67 years and has more than 53,000 records in its database.

Patience’s effort is slated to take place from February 23 to March 3, 2024, at the Edo State Library, located at the Edo State Secretariat Complex along Sapele Road, Benin City.
