Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka made Premier League history this past Saturday by becoming the first Brentford player to score a league goal in three years, helping his team secure a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United.

Onyeka’s moment of glory, which came in the 93rd minute of the match, contributed to Brentford’s first EPL win in 10 games. The 26-year-old, who replaced Mathias Jensen in the 90th minute, showed incredible timing by capitalizing on a deflection from Kevin Schade’s flick to score the historic goal.
Onyeka’s goal, the first since his stint with FC Midtjylland in 2020, shattered a four-year drought spanning a staggering 1,366 days.
While his strike brought immense relief and reprieve to Brentford, it only deepened the sorrows of Sheffield United, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table, with an imminent return to the Championship looking increasingly likely.
