Shank Comics, a content developer, has replied to recent demonstrations by individuals allegedly hired to disrupt planned statewide protests in Nigeria.

On Monday, July 29, a series of videos and images were posted on Twitter, showing people in Lagos state protesting against the event, which is set to begin on August 1.

They were observed holding banners and posters, and it was claimed that certain public personalities bribed them to come to the streets.

A disgruntled Shank Comic expressed his displeasure with the development, calling it the modern-day weaponization of poverty.

The online comedian added that the idea of people accepting money to protest against their own self-interest due to poverty is why politicians do not want the country to progress.

He wrote: “Nahh! This is fuxxed up. We are watching poverty being weaponized in modern age. That’s why they won’t let the country work. If it works, they lose their hold on us.”
