Kenny Ogungbe, a music executive, has drawn parallels between his career and that of the late singer Onyeka Onwenu, noting that both began as broadcasters before entering the music industry.

The Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN), led by president King Sunny Ade and chairman Orits Wiliki, made a sympathy visit to Onyeka’s family on Tuesday at their residence in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Notable attendees included flautist Tee Mac and MCSN’s director general, Mayowa Ayilaran.

Kenny informed the devastated family:

“I’m a broadcaster later into music, she was also a broadcaster later into music.

“So we have the same thing in common. The story remains that she is an elegant woman, that’s why they tagged her Elegant Stallion.

“She is also a serious songwriter, former producer, a great mom.”

The 63-year-old producer prayed for the family and expressed his sympathy. “I don’t want to say too much, but I pray that Almighty God gives you the strength to bear this irreparable loss. May her soul continue to rest peacefully in paradise,” he said.
