Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, donated ₦105 million to the Christ Embassy Church in Benin City, Edo State.
According to Naija News, Rema’s philanthropic effort occurred during his travel to Edo State to participate in the Edo@33 event.

His visit included a groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,000-capacity Edo Dome and a musical performance at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, both organised by the state government.

Rema donated to the Edo Regional Headquarters of the Christ Embassy, which is located on Erediauwa Street off Ekenwa Road.

He added that the donation was a show of appreciation for the church’s constant support of his family during a difficult era in his boyhood.

Rema spoke at a thanksgiving service at the church about how the church played an important role in his family’s life after his father died when he was just eight years old.

Rema said: “I am not here to give myself any form of accolades or glory but to give to God the glory. And, I felt it was important to give back to the church that has embraced me, prayed for me and kept me very consistent with my spirit.

“When I was eight years old when I lost my dad, we felt very lost and abandoned.

“All that we had were taken from us and we felt alone, and I remember at the time Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church; they opened a shop for my mum, and that was what she managed to take care of and feed us.

Rema pledged ₦105 million in total donations to thank the church for their compassion. He donated ₦40 million to the church’s infrastructure, ₦20 million to the Rhapsody of Realities newspaper, and ₦25 million to the teen church, where he grew up.

Rema pledged ₦20 million to help widows in the church, indicating his dedication to giving back to the community that helped him as a youth.
