Although the indictment is still secret, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said that Combs is presently in custody, with additional information expected to be revealed once the indictment is unsealed.
“We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time,” Williams said in a statement.
Combs was detained in the lobby of a Manhattan hotel, according to a source familiar with the matter.

His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, expressed dissatisfaction in the prosecution’s decision, calling the charges unjust.
Agnifilo emphasised that Combs had cooperated with the inquiry and had relocated to New York in anticipation of the judicial proceedings.
Agnifilo presented Combs as a music legend and devoted family man, imploring the audience to hold off judgement until all of the facts are known.
He claimed that Combs plans to clear his name in court and declare his innocence.
