Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has humorously explained why he is unfamiliar with some of Nigeria’s prominent entertainment personalities, including music executive Don Jazzy, comedian Carter Efe and dancer Poco Lee.
Obasanjo made the remarks during an appearance on comedian Isbae U’s podcast, Curiosity Made Me Ask, in an episode released on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
During the interview, Isbae U asked the former president whether he knew some popular figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
“Do you know Carter Efe?” the comedian asked.
“I don’t know,” Obasanjo replied.
When asked if he knew Poco Lee, the former president again responded, “No.”
Asked about Don Jazzy, Obasanjo reacted with an exclamation before noting the difference between the personalities known to him and those familiar to the comedian.
“So, you know people that… that I don’t know,” he said.

When Isbae U suggested that the entertainers might know Obasanjo even though he did not know them, the former president responded jokingly: “Ah, well, maybe because they no be important people, that’s why. That’s why the people you know, I don’t know.”
Obasanjo then contrasted his unfamiliarity with the entertainers with his acquaintance with prominent international figures, including the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III.
“Now I tell you, I know Queen Elizabeth. You say you don’t know Queen Elizabeth,” he said.
He subsequently asked Isbae U whether he knew King Charles.
“I’ve heard of him,” the comedian replied.
“I know him,” Obasanjo responded.
The exchange formed part of a light-hearted conversation in which Isbae U spoke about his international audience, while Obasanjo teased him over having viewers in the United Kingdom and United States despite, according to the conversation, not having travelled to those countries.
