JUST IN: Brazilian Icon, Pelé, Finally Gives up at 82

Brazil legend Pelé has died at the age of 82.

Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes Donacimentos, is regarded as the greatest ever individual to play the round the leather game.

Among several other club and individual achievements, Pelé won the World Cup with Brazil three times, in 1958, 1962 and 1970.

Since his retirement several decades ago, he has become an inspiration and reference point to different generations of soccer stars.

He has been battling with cancer-related ailments for years and his family recently gave up on his survival chances.
