JUST IN: Man United Overcome ‘Noisy Neighbours’ 2-1 in 189th Derby

By Ozumi Abdul

Manchester United have emerged victorious over their cross-town rivals, Manchester City, in a pulsating 189th Manchester Derby at Old Trafford.

The lunchtime Derby was squared at barren draw between the two rivals at half time before substitute Jack Gealish met a tailor-measured pass from City’s talisman, Kelvin De Bruyne, to break the deadlock in the 60th minute.

United who had spurned two goal scoring chances in the first half via Marcus Rashford soon responded in the 78th minute to restore parity, when Bruno Fernandes’ effort from long range beat City’s goalkeeper, Ederson.

United went in front within eight minutes of stoppage time, when youth prodigy, Alejandro Garnacho, dazzled down the City’s wing to set up in-form Marcus Rashford.
