Toke Makinwa, a media celebrity, is discouraged by the singer-turned-politician Banky W’s defeat to the Labour Party candidate in the election on Saturday.
The Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives was awarded to Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party (LP).
With 24,075 votes, Attah defeated Mr. Babjide Obanikoro of the APC and Banky W of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 18,666 and 16,901 votes, respectively.

In response, Makinwa claimed Banky W deserved to win because he toiled persistently in contrast to the LP candidate, whom she cited as having neither name recognition nor any form of campaigning.
“The news of LP winning in Eti Osa House of Representatives is extremely hurtful coz he didn’t campaign, we don’t even know him,” the 38-year-old TV presenter added.
She continued, “Banky worked so hard, Banky deserves to win Eti Osa. #NigerianElections2023.”
