Ferdinand Confident Man Utd Are ‘Going For Kane This Summer’

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has insisted his former club will bid for Harry Kane in the summer.

The Spurs forward appears further away than ever from winning a major trophy with the north London side struggling under Antonio Conte.

Kane recently became the club’s all-time top goal scorer and is backed to eventually become the leading scorer in the history of the Premier League.

But he is yet to lift a trophy in his career, having played for Spurs since making his professional debut over 12 years ago.

Ferdinand told FIVE that Kane should move to Man United in a bid to win silverware before his career is out, with the former Red Devils defender believing a deal will be desirable for Erik ten Hag’s side.

‘If you play football as a young kid, what is your goal? To win trophies’, he said. ‘That doesn’t change as you get older.

‘You want to win trophies if you can. Not everyone has the opportunity because they don’t play for the right clubs, then you start changing your goals.

‘He is at Spurs, who want to win trophies. They can’t, they don’t. Since the Champions League final, they have gone backwards in terms of the way they are playing and closeness to winning things. They are nowhere near it.

‘But you have to ask him the question, that is the questioning we need answering from him. Tell us man, “I want to be a one club man, I want to have the statue outside, I’m Mr Spurs”.

‘Well played, that’s fine. But there is a chance to come here now, to Man United. Man United are going for Kane’.

Chelsea are also seemingly in for a striker in the summer, with Graham Potter’s side failing to fix their forward problem in January.

The Blues are starting to show form under Potter, but have struggled in front of goal since his arrival earlier this season.

Ferdinand believes owner Todd Boehly will splash the cash to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the summer to try and do that, with a potential move for Kane off the table because of the rivalry between Tottenham and the Blues.

‘I reckon Chelsea this summer go for Osimhen’, he said. ‘Harry Kane isn’t going to Chelsea from Spurs, no chance.’
