Internet users had conflicting opinions after Tems and Wizkid—two Afrobeats icons—were left off of the Grammy Award list.

The list of African singers who have received Grammy Awards in the past was made public by the Grammys earlier today.

The 66th Grammy Awards will be held on February 4 and the organisers have included African artists who have received golden records since the 1960s.

According to the list, the first African to win a Grammy award was the late South African singer Miriam Makeba.

Sade, the pop phenomenon, followed suit, becoming the first Nigerian to win the coveted prize globally. Conversely, Burna Boy emerged as the final and latest Nigerian to capture the prestigious title.
